preston park

Brighton

Preston Park is a large Victorian detached villa overlooking Preston Park, and sitting within the Preston Park Conservation area. The house has been in the same ownership since the 1920’s, but the owners are now looking to refurbish the house and maximise the residential potential for the site.

The existing house will be sympathetically refurbished and extended with materials to match the original house. The house will provide six new flats, all with views of the park and use of the shared communal gardens.

At the rear of the garden, we are proposing two new houses. The site slopes steeply up towards the rear, so the houses are sunken into the site, to minimise any affect on the neighbours amenity. The houses will be clad in reddish pink cement board, to reflect the red brick of the neighbouring houses, and timber to blend the houses into the wooded rear aspect. The pitched roof of the northern houses mirrors the form of the traditional houses along the avenue, with the flat roofed southern house picking up on the more modern designs of the later additions to the street.
