Henley on Thames, Oxfordshire
Reading Road is a spacious Victorian terraced house, located in the Reading Road Conservation Area. The owners brief was to create a contemporary scheme to open up the ground floor and extend into the garden.
The new side extension has an exposed timber fin roof and creates a new dining space, under a large strip rooflight. The extension opens up to a large kitchen and small snug. The snug has a protruding oriel bay window, drawing the space out into the garden, and natural light in to the heart of the kitchen.
Externally, the shape of the extensions are simple, emphasising the bold geometric forms of the pitched roofs and large rectangular windows. The material palette is kept simple with white painted and red brick, and dark grey powder coated aluminium windows.
Studio Wolsey is appointed up to tender.
